One more doctor for health reform

Like everyone who has kids, our  kids have doctors. Dr. David Hill is one of the pediatricians in the practice that we take our children to. I've never given a lot of thought to the opinions of my physicians, other than medical of course. But after reading this article I am proud to be associated with them. This is the beginning of an article that ran in the Star News, our local paper, yesterday.

Two things happened a couple of days ago that I cannot reconcile. One of the fathers of a patient in my pediatric practice called to ask if there was some other way to manage his son's serious heart disease, maybe a less expensive heart specialist or cheaper medications. The cost of keeping his son healthy were too much, and something had to give.

My answer was short: "No."

That same day Rep. Mike McIntyre, a legislator whose prior work on behalf of children's health, education, and wellbeing has made me proud to be his constituent, announced he would not support the health care bill now going to the House of Representatives for reconciliation, saying it's too expensive.
