News from ASCO 2009 - GI cancers and lymphoma

ASCO - The American Society of Clinical Oncology has finished their annual meeting. There was far more research released than I can possibly process so I am sharing these links with you. I hope you find them interesting and possibly helpful.

Most patients with advanced colorectal cancer do not need surgery.

A vaccine delayed the return of follicular lymphoma, by about more than one year in patients whose lymphoma was in remission.

Preventative treatment can reduce the rash that is commonly associated with panitumumab (Vectibix) and cetuximab (Erbitux) in cases of colorectal cancer.

Herceptin can be used to treat stomach cancers in approximately 25 percent of cases that test as high in HER2.
