metastatic breast cancer: long-term survival

Posted May 12 2010 12:00am

I try to keep up with my reading, and today I found an article that I somehow missed. It is an article from the New York Times by Katherine Russell Rich who has been surviving stage IV breast cancer for 17 years. In the article she notes that, in fact, two percent of women with breast cancer survive long-term for reasons thus far unknown. Most research has focused on treatment rather than survivors and why they have survived. Dr. Susan Love, however, will be one of the first to focus research on long-term survival.

If you have metastatic breast cancer or know someone who does, you must read or share this uplifting article.
