I can name a grand total of two Surgeon Generals, Jocelyn Elders and C. Everett Koop. Now President elect Barack Obama has asked Dr. Sanjay Gupta to be the Surgeon General in his administration and there is a lot of buzz about whether he is qualified for the job.
Gupta is a practicing neurosurgeon and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University. Oh, and he's on tv, CNN to be precise. Gupta received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Michigan Medical Center.
I don't know what you need to be truly qualified to be the Surgeon General and it makes no difference to me who it is. I'm just curious. What do you think? Do you think having a television personality is a negative? positive? or are you like me and are neutral?
