Is mastectomy necessary for non-invasive , multifocal DCIS

Posted by sneeda

Had a lumpectomy in June 2011

9 cm of DCIS removed with positive margins. Post-operative MRI showed DCIS and suspicious dot throughout breast with enhanced lympe node.

New MRI (7 months later) show no lympe node enhancement and a decrease in DCIS size remaining. There is still 4cm of DCIS showing , multifocal, in one quadrant.

Surgeon is still recommending a mastectomy due to multi focal and the size of cureent and past DCIS found

I take mistletoe shots, numerous supplements and am active.

IS it possible to avoid mastectomy and stay safe and sane
