Gene Wilder

Posted Jun 29 2009 5:08pm
I know it's unfair to use a picture from one of Gene Wilder's earliest films (1971) but no matter how time moves on it's the picture that comes to me when I hear his name.

Like me this may be the image of Gene Wilder that comes to your mind or it might be Young Frankenstein or The Producers or Blazing Saddles or one of dozens of other film and TV roles he's played. But did you know that Gene Wilder's first film credit was for Bonnie and Clyde?

Most of us know the story of Gene's love of Gilda Radner and her struggle with ovarian cancer. You may not know that Wilder was diagnosed with non Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1999 and received chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.

He's since been seen on Will and Grace and has been writing, both fiction and personal stories.
