Dorothy Hamill

Posted Jan 15 2009 7:54pm

Dorothy Hamill was the 1976 Olympic figure skating champion. She is credited with developing a new skating move; a camel spin that turns into a sit spin, which became known as the “Hamill camel.” The bobbed hairstyle that she wore during her Olympic performance started a fad. (There are pictures of me with this haircut, how about you?)

On January 4, 2008, Ms. Hamill announced that she was being treated for breast cancer at Johns Hopkins. She has since returned to touring with Broadway on Ice.
