They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Jeremiah 10:5
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Have no reason to fear in the Lord. Trust and Obey, as there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey..
The Bible has many guidelines on how we should live our lives so that we may enjoy it (not to be enslaved by it)…. In Leviticus there is a list of foods to eat and not to eat…if we eat the forbidden food in Leviticus (such as pork).. are we going to be punished in eternal fire? No! We will just be unhealthy (physically) and probably even be affected emotionally and; spiritually.. but it does not affect our salvation. God meets us where we are.. He does not set a standard too high for us to meet..
Do not fear if you do not meet all the do’s and don’ts, do not be crippled by fear.. act on what you already know now..
sufficient in itself are the worries for the day..
God Bless you all and hope that the peace of Christ be with you everyday, no matter what you eat or drink…
Note: I tried to abstain from pork before (specially during the time I was pregnant with my daughter), purely for health reasons. Honestly, I was a lot healthier then.. than I was today. Today, I have decided to abstain from pork due to spiritual reasons and also because I have tested it myself, (abstaining from pork – really helps me physically).. My daughter has no interest or the appetite for pork (for some reason, she can tell the difference between minced pork and chicken). For Filipinos like us, abstaining from pork is very hard as it is part of our main dishes, in every ocassion there is always pork in the middle of Filipino gatherings (roast pig, pig trotters, adobo, the list goes on). Its hard to go against the culture and family traditions, but it can be done (imagine we were able to break away from our Catholic traditions, breaking away from eating pork should be a walk in the park).
If you fear being mocked by friends and relatives or being chased by the authorities for saying why you abstain from certain foods or drugs, do not let it stop you from saying it as you see it. If you keep it to yourself, you are being selfish. But bear in mind, that even if you share your thoughts to people, not all of them will agree with you and that is fine. We were all created to have our own mind and decide for ourselves.
Then Jesus said to them, “A lamp isn’t brought indoors to be put under a basket or under a bed, is it? It’s to be put on a lamp stand, isn’t it? (mark 4:21)
Besides some people have been in the dark for so long, that when they see light, they almost get blinded by it and act in either shock or awe. So, take it slowly, bit by bit, a candlestick maybe enough for some.
