In the unlikely event you see this please don't hate me for using a Harry Potter photo. Although I've been a fan for years I adore you as Minerva McGonagall. I also know that my kids will probably remember you in the role for most of their lives.
Thanks - Kate
Dame Maggie Smith has been acting for more years that most of us have been alive. I'm not kidding her stage credits date to 1952 and her film credits, 1958. She's won Oscars for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, as well as a Tony, an Emmy, BAFTA's and more, in roles that range from Desdemona in Othello to Gunilla Garson Goldberg in The First Wives Club.
Dame Maggie has always struck me as a sincere and tough lady and learning that she was undergoing radiation at the time that she was filming Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince has only made me more in awe of her than before. Glad to hear that she has come through that as well as surgery and chemo because there's one movie left in this series and no one else could possibly replace her as Minerva. So my hubby and I will need to work out a sitter for the kids because Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince comes out on Wednesday!
