By now everyone has learned that the biggest objective with my blog is education and outreach. I say it over and over… knowledge is power!
The 2008 State of the Evidence report is a comprehensive report on the link between the environment and increased breast cancer risk, and was released by The Breast Cancer Fund. This organization is a little different than other breast cancer organizations in that the Breast Cancer Fund identifies – and advocates for elimination of – the environmental and other preventable causes of the disease. They fully agree with the inherited genetic connection and the other more discussed risk factors. However, they focus on the environmental impact and risk factors created by contaminants we come in contact with on a daily basis.
In the report the evidence is divided into three categories: chemical carcinogens, hormones and endocrine disrupting compounds and radiation. It has some interesting and thought provoking information. Click here to read the report.
