Bad new for Beastie Boys Adam Yauch

When we were talking about going to Bonnaroo one on the first things that got my husband all jazzed was the Beastie Boys on the bill. We had to split so he could go see them while I checked out David Byrne.

Well it looks like it was a stroke of luck for hubby because the Beastie Boys tour has been pushed back indefinitely following the announcement that Adam Yauch (MCA) has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. According to the press release from EMI music Adam Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left salivary gland (parotid). They believe that it was caught early and is considered to be very treatable.

That being said he will likely have surgery and radiation treatment to the region. Chemotherapy is not generally used for tumors in this area but if the tumor can not be removed surgically due to location it is occasionally used. This does not appear to be the case for Mr. Yauch.

This cancels the groups appearance at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and their debut at the Hollywood Bowl. The release of the band's forthcoming album 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 1' will also be delayed.
