Andrea Collins-Smith

Posted Aug 04 2008 7:14pm

Andrea Collins-Smith lost her battle with IBC on July 5th. My heart is heavy. A beautiful family has lost a wife and mother. Andrea’s words touched so many through her honesty and candid writing about her battle.

Andrea knew her time on Earth was coming to an end. She wrote birthday cards to all of her children for several years to come - she wrote final words for everyone to read - she was ready. She was ready to be free of pain, to be free of the sickness, to be free of cancer. She isfree.

Here is an exerpt from her final message -

I learned a lot over the year that I battled this dreaded disease. I learned that it is not in our best interest to hold out expectations to God. He is not Santa Clause. He does what is right and good. This was my path. My journey in this world was difficult and painful but important in my spiritual growth. I learned that we have to be happy despite our circumstances. We can’t say I will be happy when…. No sweeties be happy now because today is all you have.
