Strong spatial working memory correlates best with academic success. Children with impaired auditory and spatial working memory had the highest rates of attentional and behavioral complaints noticed by teachers. The obvious question is - how many children thought to have attention deficit disorder have limited working memory instead? Most children who are prescribed medications for attention deficit disorder are not assessed for focal memory or learning difficulties.
