Have you ever reflected on the whys and wherefores of summer vacations for kids? I had heard or read somewhere long ago that summer vacations from regular schooling were scheduled in the very olden days because when this country was based on agriculture kids were needed to do chores, plant, and feed pigs. Well, they probably would still need to feed pigs in the winter, but that wouldn't hurt people who walked ten miles in the snow to get to a little schoolhouse, now would it?
But, now, there is really no reason for summer vacations. I am a grandmother now and for some reason I have gotten the job of taking care of these little darlings in summer. Since we are in the Information AGe, going quickly into another type of age probably And Energy Efficient Age- I believe it is time for children from preschool to high school senior level go to school year round.
