The new Christmas commercial with the weird family who rings the doorbell and hands the inhabitants a singing Christmas Card - is pardon the pun-off the rack to me!
Why Do People Go Christmas Caroling--an excerpt from How Stuff Works
The idea of Christmas caroling brings to mind jolly bands of churchgoers, dressed in shawls and top hats, going door-to-door, also known as wassailing -- an Old Norse term -- to spread the spirit of Christmas through hymns. Whether it's "Deck the Halls," "Joy to the World" or "Silent Night," Christmas carols provide the soundtrack to the holidays.
Sadly, if a jolly band of anything came to my door these days I would probably not open the door. Not because I don't have any Christmas spirit, but because I would be afraid they would practice a skill known as home invasion.
So, this year, since everyone is being so creative- a card SENT IN THE MAIL singing Jingle Bells, will just have to do.
