Who Is Wearing Bathing Suits In the Good Ole Summertime

Posted Oct 30 2008 3:24pm

I doubt if many who read this are old enough to remember the old pictures of women in full dresses who actually swam in them.

Now, with designer thongs for bathing suits, and G-strings that disguise themselves as swimwear, it would be hard to imagine those very prim ladies of old sashaying down the beach strutting their stuff in a dress.

But, for many of the day, corsets were a part of their daily clothing routine. What a chore that must have been. And it also raises an age old question. Who do women dress for? Do they dress for the men in their lives, or to compete with other women. I suppose it has to do with each woman and what she intends to accomplish.

I will certainly not try to answer such a question in a small box like this- it is too complex, too complicated, and frankly my corset needs changing!
