what is the "normal range" when blood is tested for for iron in a women? What level constitutes anemia?

I seem to recall the normal range being in the high forties. My level was as low as 7 before I started eating meat again.  I really do want to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle again, as it stands now, I have a serving of meet about once every ten days and my iron level was fine wihen I went for a physical two weeks ago.
