The wonderful world of golf-filled days awaits us. Walking in the sun-drenched days, chatting with friends, shooting a birdie. Or more than likely a hole-in-one, since I am a professional golfer. Oh, you didn't know that about me? Yes, after I went to Callaway golf and polished my golfing chops I have sailed around the world beating one Jack Nicholsen after another.
Oh, you say, Jack doesn't play anymore.. that's right, it was that Tiger fellow the last time. All I know is that I just love the game. And isn't it true that if you do what you love that eventually the money will come?
I read an article recently that stated just that. The man who wrote it said that he used to teach seminars to people about goal-setting. Because he felt that goals were the only way to reach success in this dog eat dog world. Then one day an old man approached him. He told this man that he did not agree with his theory of goal-setting equaling success. When asked why, the old man told him that he had loved to pick up bottles on the side of the road and had practiced this art for many years. He also told the seminar instructor that he had set goals every day to pick up at least 10-12 bottles.
Still, fame and success had eluded him - and today he was poor and had to live in a homeless shelter. As the decrepit old man stumbled away, the instructor had an epiphany. From now on, he would dedicate his life to teaching his audience how to avoid goal-setting and play golf. Today, that man is George Richards! "Who's he?" you ask. I don't know, but last time I heard he was living in a homeless shelter.
