There was a time in my life when I could run through wild paths in the forests by my childhood home. Unfortunately, I will probably never run through that path again for the following reasons.
1) The path is now overgrown with wild thorny vines, and they bite!
2) My legs aren't what they used to be. AFter all, I did all that running when I was around 12 years old, at 55 I use my cane more than my legs-dang, they hurt!
3) People are not as nice as they used to be- there have been several times in the not too distant past when I have been given obscene finger gestures when I hobble across the street by my home. Here, I am, just a poor old woman with arthritis and those young 'uns can't seem to keep their fingers to themselves!
4) Even with uneven gas prices, cars still drive faster than I can walk. My friend, Murtha, has accused me of being paranoid- but I swear I have a sign on my back that says," Hit Me, and I'll Pay You Money!{"
Well, that's all for now, but I hope my little essay on The Dangers of Walking hit a nerve before something hits me. Why just the other day.....................
