We’re especially excited to announce the release of our new working memory exercise, Memory Lane .
Why are we so delighted to have Memory Lane on Lumosity.com? Some of you may remember our partnership with The University of Michigan that led to the inclusion of the Dual N-Back exercise on our site. An extremely challenging memory task designed by some of the best neuroscientists in the world, Dual N-Back has been supported by studies that show significant improvements in fluid intelligence.
Numerous Lumosity users continue to take advantage of the Dual N-Back training on our site. But here at Lumosity, our neuroscientists and designers are always working to take these sorts of ideas out of the lab and make them into exercises accessible to everyone.
With Memory Lane, Lumosity is now able to offer an engaging exercise that allows all our users to take advantage of the core task behind Dual N-Back training. Like Dual N-Back, you’ll need to remember both a visual and auditory stimulus and determine if each new stimulus matches the one shown a certain number back.
For new users, Memory Lane offers an accessible introduction into a fascinating exercise by taking advantage of our adaptive training algorithms. For Dual N-Back veterans, later levels of the activity offer an unprecedented level of challenge. And because the game adopts the same core task as the original exercise, users still have an opportunity to gain improvements in fluid intelligence similar to those shown in the original Dual N-Back study published in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
But just as with the original task: the more you train, the more benefit you stand to gain. So take a jog down Memory Lane and let us know what you think!
