Symptoms of Thyroid Disease

Posted Oct 11 2011 7:05am
I began having thyroid problems as a very young woman.  In my early twenties, I was tired, and fatigued, had scaly skin and limp hair- and when I told all of this to my doctor I was placed on a thyroid hormone supplement to enable my body to work with this   Thyroid imbalance .

And, so for the past 40 years or so I have been on a thyroid replacement hormone and it has helped.  It is noticeable to me on days I happen to miss taking my pill.  I will have a headache if I do not take it within two days, and if it goes longer than that I will begin to feel drained and lethargic.

Thyroid disease can take the form of hypothyroidism ( which I suffer from) or hyperthyroidism ( where they thyroid is on overdrive).  People with hyperthyroidism are those whose eyes might seem to bulge out and normally are very thin.

If you are suffering from any symptoms of thyroid disease, see your doctor.  There is help available.
