Most meningiomas are benign, and typically cured simply by surgery to remove the mass. A small percentage are designated as either "atypical" or "malignant", which indicates they have a higher incidence of recurrence and/or metastasis. When the pathology report is issued, look to see what grade the meningioma is. If it is a World Health Organization grade 1 meningioma, you can be reassured that it is a benign tumor, a type that is almost always cured by surgical removal.
