Sleep Aids

Posted Oct 22 2008 4:53pm
How long is it supposed to take a prescription sleep aid like Lunesta to start working? I fall asleep faster than normal, but I still wake up after only 4 hours or so of sleep. I know I have only been taking it for two nights, but if its already helping me fall asleep faster shouldn't it be working to help me stay asleep too? I don't know. What I do know is that I don't really like the way I feel in the morning. I was going to get up when I woke up this morning, but that ended up being 4:30 am and then again at 6 am and I fell asleep at 1 am so I didn't get up. I really don't know how much sleep I got after that, but I finally got up at 10 am and I felt like crap! Another headache came on, very subtle, and I was very cranky!

Shortly after I got up I received a call from the bike shop that my bike was done. My friend went with me again and we picked up my bike. At the shop, the guys were so nice and helpful. I tried the strap and they even helped me rig it so that I had a rope attached to it that would help me pull the strap over my foot. Plus they let me try on a bike shoe to see that I needed to wear shoes with less traction to be able to get in and out of the strap quickly. Plus they gave me two velcro straps to attach my cane to the bike! And they didn't charge me for labor! So I got my bike back and tomorrow I will try to ride it.

My friend and I went to a store and walked around for awhile and then stopped for lunch and went back to her house. I thought about trying out my bike, but I hadn't gotten new shoes yet so I didn't want to try. I kept the bike and am going to practice in the garage downstairs where I can ride along side a wall, to help me balance at first until I get the hang of it! When I am comfortable with my balance and all I will take the bike back over to my friend's place to practice riding on her newly paved street.

When I got home the first thing I did was walk over to Payless Shoe Store to see if I could find some shoes similar to the bike shoes. I found some for $12, which is much better than the $99 for the bikie shoes at the bike store! I came home and played Rock Band for an hour or so and a friend from back east called. it was nice to hear from her. We talked for a little and then I played a couple more songs on RB and then went upstairs to ride my exercise bike. I had been riding for 15 minutes without any problems when all of a sudden I had to stop because I got this major wave of dizziness. I felt like I was going to fall over! I know I have said that I have felt slightly dizzy when riding before but this was WAY worse! I tried to start up again but it hit me again so I stopped. Now my head feels very heavy and there is a little pounding now and again. I am going to take it easy for the rest of the day. I guess I just did too much today.

On Monday I am going to visit the set of the show that I used to work on as a Production Assistant. Its the show that helped me get to where I am today. All the prop jobs I have gotten have been because of people from this show! I am excited. I haven't seen anyone from the show since the day before my last surgery in September. That was a good day because I got to take my parents to the set. I really want to see a bunch of the crew, but I am especially looking forward to seeing the prop guy so I can show him that I am ready to work so maybe he will help me find work!

I am feeling a little better now, I just ate some peanuts. My friend that I was with today called and I told her about my dizzy spell and she seems to think it was caused by Rock Band. For some reason she wants me to stop playing it, I am not really sure why, but any time I mention it she says something negative about it. Oh well. It may have been, but the last couple of times I got a little dizzy riding the exercise bike I had not been playing RB so I don't think so. Its been over a week since I played RB. I still think it is related to food, I should eat something little before I ride. Yesterday I had an apple before I rode and I did pretty good.
