I developed pregnancy induced hypertension 5 years ago at age 45, just a few weeks before the due date of my third child. I have a family history of heart disease/hypertension, am 50 pounds overweight and sedentary, and a nonsmoker. My BP is controlled with Clonidine and Lisinopril. I was able to lose about 30 pounds a couple years ago and became more active, but I have gained the weight back. These lifestyle changes did not appear to reduce my BP significantly. What is the likelihood I will have to live with this the rest of my life? Are there any other effective ways to reduce BP in conjunction with diet and exercise?
