More haste, more waste

Posted Nov 10 2012 10:24am

Thanks to Brainworks Rehab on Twitter, I found this article: More Haste, Less Speed – More Waste

Which basically says, when we are pushed to make quick decisions, we are literally more error-prone.

For example, people with certain types of brain damage seem to get stuck in a hasty, impulsive mode of deciding, and the models provide some indication for how this might happen mechanically in the brain. Heitz and Schall have shown how these mathematical models can be modified to make them consistent with the new results.

One of the things I hope this re-org offers me, is the chance to work with people who are far less driven to make snap decisions and do things quickly (and wrong), than the folks who have be driving me crazy I’ve been working with for the past 2-1/2 years.

There is always hope.
