Little League Baseball

Posted Dec 20 2008 5:44pm

Remember when you played little league baseball?  If you played when I did or before, those were the good ol' days.  Especially in a small rural area that I and some of you were raised in.  You played for your elementary school or closest one to you when you did not have a team from your own school.   I would ride my bike clear across town to play for the Indians.  Man, I can't imagine my son or daughter riding their bike out of the neighborhood, much less the distance I used to ride to practice.  Remember?

When I was young I would hear about "the good ol' boy system".  The only person that is effected by it all is the kids. Players are replaced at the drop of the hat for a player that is better friends with the coach.  Without thinking of the impact this could have on the players psyche.  It is incredible. I mean, kids that once were teammates  and friends for 2-3 years from age 9 and Up, suddenly are chewed up and spit out by a head coach who is looking after his friends, not the kids. All to win!  Good ol' boy system in action, full steam ahead.

Just wasn't meant to be is what I tell myself and keep the faith in the system.  Then I remind myself, these things are man made.  The only perfect thing is HIM.  Thru HIM anything is possible.

Just gonna be a while....in his time....KTF
