Late Day Surgery

Posted Nov 21 2012 10:07pm
If by all means when scheduling surgery try to schedule your procedure for early morning

First its nice to just get up and get you surgery over with and not have to dread it all day long.

but there are other things we need to think about. The rule of thumb is you have to stop eating at 12 midnight. How many of us sit up eating that last meal?

Then where the increased risk of having surgery later in the day?

As you know you are not the first person to be in the operating room. You run the risk of picking up germs from the surgeries that have been done before you.

the risk of infection goes up with late day surgeries.

Most surgeons just do 3 or 4 surgeries a day but that is what is scheduled. You also need to take into account the emergency surgeries that also were preformed by your doctor that day.

I'm having my latest surgery ever today. Its scheduled for 3:00. I don't recommend those at all but this is hanging over my head and I have had it rescheduled peice now.

I'm stressing out about it. I can't get anything done for worring. I'm hurting. Its time to get it over with.

I want to be able to explain more but its hard to talk about right now. I hope the next time I blog I come back to say I was just being stupid... It was nothing... Thank you to everyone lately that has give me their good thoughts and love...
