I described my coat of many flowers and colors in another post and how my daughter can’t stand it.
It seems that people either love it or hate it. I wondered if I liked it due to changes in my brain from having PD. So, I thought, ‘I’ll see if other Parkies like it .’
I took it with me to a YOPN conference in Reston, VA in 2006. A couple of friends (they will remain nameless at this time) who were also going to be at the conference, were very vocal about not wanting to be seen with me, were I to bring and wear it.
Do you think that bothered me? Nooooo wayyyyy!
The first night, our hotel room was the meeting point for about seven lady ‘parkies‘. I told them to get ready as I got out and modeled it. I then asked if anyone else wanted to wear it and everyone did (except my roommate Flutterby). I think the words out of her mouth were something to the effect of ‘I’d rather be dead than seen in that coat!”
I wasn’t going to pressure anyone, so I left it, knowing six of the seven ladies loved . They put it on, modeled it, twirled in it, laughed in it, and had pictures made in it!
I told you it is FUN to wear! After a couple of days, people were asking to see and so I took it to the hospitality room one night. Much fun was had when even the guys put it on!
even made a guest appearance at a PD fundraiser, in New Jersey, in 2007! One of the band members wore it the whole evening. So as you can see, has a wide reputation. For me, wearing it makes me laugh and for a while, I forget about the symptoms of PD.
For those of you who are going to the Unity Walk, I’ll have with me! I think you’ll enjoy it too and yeah, guys too!
P.S. Flutterby finally did give in and put on (even had a pic taken in it! However, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to show it, but I’ll check and get back with ‘ya on it).
