How Hot is It? Maybe All This Sweat Will Burn FAT!

Posted Jul 24 2009 10:49pm

God, this heat! On the way to Walmart this morning it seemed that the temps were climbing faster than normal. Then, after a wonderful romp through the store with my two grandsons who love to scream, run and act like hellions I was dripping with sweat when I left the place -laiden down with chicken breasts, spinach, and egg whites, by the way- and this burning question kept recurring.

Does sweat help you burn calories? As is my habit, I did a search using just this question. Not surprisingly, I found that sweating can help you lose calories, but that it is mostly water weight---

Then I found this little nugget!

"
If you want a very easy way to burn more calories, just drink colder water! The definition of "a calorie" is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of a gram of water by 1 degree Celsius. It takes significant energy to raise the temperature of cold water to body temperature, and more energy the colder the water."

How about that? Perhaps, the city of Fort Wayne should install water fountains at every corner for all of us Fatties as we try to burn off our 'winter weight'.
