At a recent doctor's appointment I noticed I was actually sounding like an old person! First, I complained about pains in my joints, knees, and hands. Then, I started complaining that my jaw seemed uneven (don't ask)- and then I reported the latest finding at my cardiologist visit. Told I had elevated cholesterol and was supposed to take a nuclear cardiolite test- which I am thinking of dropping.
On and on I went- nary a word about how I can still run up and down stairs, well, not two at a time, but more than once during the day. And, how I still can remember phone numbers, and the birthdates of all of my siblings (five of 'em) my children birthdays, my grandchildren's birhtdays, and the days I got married and divorced. Funny, I have more fondness for the day of divorce than marriage-but that is another blog post.
And, so I suppose even when I gaze at my uneven age spots - I can still be grateful for each stair I can still climb.
