A friend's dr recently told her that her white matter is shrinking. She is terrified. She is 68 yrs old, a smoker and has both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I think her chances of having a heart attack or a stroke are much more serious than white matter shrinkage. She doesn't seem to be particularly concerned about either of those possiblitlies, but is obessed with the idea that her mind is not functioning properly. Is there something I can tell her to calm her down?
