Healthy Eating -Grilling in the Snow

Posted Dec 05 2008 8:01am
This is the first year without my father at Christmastime and lately I have had bright memories of him at Christmas Eve.

For many years our family would grill steaks outside on Christmas Eve. It was a tradition. This healthy grilling was accompanied by potunas (baked potatoes stuffed with tuna, sour cream, and veggies, and smothered in cheese) deviled eggs, cakes, pies, brocoli drowned in butter, and drinks galore.

After Dad got sick, he didn't seem to want to be around lots of people during the holiday season, he was afraid of catching a flu or cold. Couldn't blame him, after all.

Funny, how it is, that as this Christmas approaches, I can still hear the steak sizzling, smell those baked potatoes cooking, and feel the whistle of the cold wind in my hair when I stepped outside to ask Dad how those steaks were coming.
