Recently, an article popped up on a Google alert that peaked my interest concerning the 'greening' of small cities that had once been industrial hubs. The author of the article was intent on utilizing the green initiative criteria of the Obama administration in a proposal to study the effects of same on the city of Pittsburgh.
I wrote to him and relayed some interesting facts about Fort Wayne because I believe we have the makings of a green treasure here in this city- and instead our city fathers (mothers!) are looking towards casino making around where a crator now has grown.
Fort Wayne is historical, in ownership of a beautiful park system with an active Friends of the Park alliance, and an active citizenship in the parks. Fort Wayne Botanical Gardens is a testament to this. And, there is so much more.
