Fight Against Childhood Obesity- Let's Start w/ Junk Food

Posted Feb 27 2010 6:59am
I think it is wonderful that so many organizations and celebrities are taking up the cause of childhood obesity. Our First Lady, the Clinton Foundation, and many others are joined in this important fight.

Where to begin? One of the most prevalent tips going around is to either cut down on soda pop or cut it out altogether. I think this is a great idea. POP is full of empty calories- and though it might be fun to drink-the lasting damage will be with our kids for years to come. And fast food, junk food, whatever you want to call it has got to come next. Both of my grandsons love the stuff and I have to admit it is also my downfall- but when it comes to real junk- Fast Food restaurants, no matter how they dress it up- are contributors to childhood obesity.

Let's think about what we eat, what we waste, and how we can all do better- and hope to god, our kids growing up are not in line for weight loss pills - the way we are now.
