We are coming into tax time and the other day I was talking to my sister in Mississippi. She had just prepared her taxes and was glad to find she would be getting a small refund. However, she had decided to wait a few days before filing when she got a letter in the mail from Lowe’s. During 2010 she had purchased two energy efficient doors from Lowe’s and the letter was sent as confirmation that this was so and she was allowed to use the purchase (or part of it) as a credit on her taxes. She would not have known this if she had not received the letter All of this was due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The credit put another 200 dollars in her pocket, so make sure you are taking advantage of all the energy credits you have coming during this year’s tax season. Energy savings doesn’t just come from turning off the lights!  |
