Eating well: An Antioxidant Cocktail If you're like me, you eat your veggies and take a multi-vitamin daily, thinking, I'm getting all the antioxidants I need. Well, after I read Dr. Lester Packer's book The Antioxidant Miracle, I was shocked to learn this may not be the case. His theory is you need the right ones for you. Antioxidants fight free radicals and protect you against cancer, heart disease, cataracts, Alzheimers, and much more. Each antioxidant works on a different part of the cell, so that's where the cocktail comes in. You need to cover all your bases by taking a range. You probably know about Vitamin C and Vitamin E, but what about coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid, and glutathione? Make sure your supplements have those. The one exception is the glutathione. Since it's not well absorbed in supplement form, get that from eating protein-rich foods like soybeans. I'll drink to that!
