What would cause low platelet counts, low hemoglobin (6) and excruciating back pain? Docs confused.

Posted by taybee p.

A friend entered hospital with excruciating back pain. Docs say she has several small fractures along spine (rare in a 54 yr. old),  and a ruptured disc (between 4 and 5). She has since been diagnosed with a low platelet count and very low hemoglobin (6.7) She is very apprehensive. Any ideas?
