What does Bilirubin have to do with Cirrhosis of the liver?

Posted by friendlyvickie

Yes, I am a 50 year old female that was diagnosed with Non-Alcholic Cirrhosis about 6 years ago.  I found out that it was hereditary from my mother's side of the family.   The ones that have this are also Type II Diabetics.  I have my blood work done very often and this last time my Bilirubin was high at 3.5 and the normal range is 0.2-1.2.  What does this mean in my situation and how does it affect my Liver.  What is Bilirubin?  Thank You and May God Bless!!!!!!  Friendly Vickie
