What do you think? What is the role of the church in helping those with mental illness?

Posted Dec 16 2009 10:13am

A recent study quoted by pysch central said that 32% of those with mental illness are told when they seek help that they do not have those issues; that the problem is lack of faith, demonic involvement etc.  What role, if any has church played in your recovery?  Has it been a positive or negative?  Is stigma a major issue in churches?  What do you think the role of spiritual or religious ideas should be in recovery?
