The foundation for excellence in mental health care- a new symposium

The foundation for excellence in mental health care is getting ready to hold its next symposium next month in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For those who do not know the foundation found its birth initially through the work of Robert Whittaker and his hope that the mental health system can really improve in real and significant ways. It has grown into a multidisciplinary group of people from all over the country who together have tried to add meat and substance to that vision and plant the seeds for real change.
I found the following on their invitation to the conference. It says it all nicely. “The Foundation’s mission is to promote better mental health outcomes. We will do so by identifying, developing, and sharing knowledge with the public about mental health care that best helps people recover and live well in society. We will promote improvements in mental health care by sponsoring research and the development of programs designed to help people thrive – physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.”
The title of the fall symposium is ” Optimizing mental health choices for childrend and adolescents within the community.” I have seen the agenda and it talks about real options, real choices and real solutions.
Thanks to all the people involved in this really, really important movement. I hope you will try to find out more about their efforts and support them as you can.
