Dread

Posted Aug 27 2009 5:57pm

Rob just called to tell me he got the job he interviewed for this morning (factory). I knew he would get it, he's gotten every job he's ever interviewed for! He couldn't hang up the phone though without already worrying that he would screw it up. It almost sounded as though he was wishing for medication again. Hmm, have to see what he's thinking.

As soon as the anxiety over the interview passed, he moved on to anxiety over the next step. What if he doesn't learn fast enough? I told him he always learns things quickly. What if they expect too much from him? I told him to relax, no one would expect him to already know how to do everything. What if he can't pay attention and learn - maybe we should talk about what he can do to help with that? I told him we'll talk when he gets home.

The difficult thing about Rob working is all the anxiety and stress that will creep back into his life. It will be interesting to see how he handles it this time around.
