Mission Mode continues... yesterday Rob was hell-bent on driving to Pittsburgh to take a look at a car he was interested in. When I wouldn't allow it, he spent half an hour trying to shout me into it, then he was on the internet downloading more car info. He showed me each car and read the highlights to me. Sorted out his top three. I tried again to get him to realize that it would take him at least three months of working 40 hour weeks to save up enough to buy any of the cars he was interested in and that by that time they would be sold. He also thinks he can sell his car for more than it's worth. I also went over the estimate with him for the work he needs done on his car to make it safe to drive, which is 1/3 the cost of the cars he's looking at buying. He wasn't hearing it, so I stopped talking.
GF came over in the afternoon and was working on her homework when she suddenly got quite sick and began vomiting repeatedly. Rob was solicitous for awhile, holding her hair, getting her water, putting her in bed... but then he was off to take digital pics of his car so he could sell it online. He asked her if she was feeling well enough to drive him over to a friend's house to get the cable to download the pics onto the computer, and after some pressure from Rob she agreed. She got up from the bed and ran to the bathroom to throw up again. I told Rob to leave her alone, the pics could wait - but he told me to shut up, GF wouldn't agree to it if she didn't feel up to it. I told him once again GF was agreeing to something she really didn't want to do just to keep him happy. Luckily his friend called and said she would come over with the cable, so we averted a "situation". GF went back to bed.
Sometimes it's hard for me to see that this is bipolar disorder. Some days it seems that Rob suffers from asshole disorder. I should say everyone around Rob suffers from this asshole disorder.
Today he is off to work. Hopefully he'll be too worn out to carry on with the mission after working eight hours.
