I was talking to someone today and she mentioned this song – The Rose – I’d never heard of it before (hey Bette Midler was a bit before my time!) So I just remembered about it there and decided to have a little listen. It’s definitely getting added to my ‘sad songs’ list on my iPod cos some of the lyrics really are so beautiful and moving. I got a little lump in my throat when I watched it for the third time in a row. I guess it’s one of those songs that really touches you if you can identify with the lyrics. And I guess I identify with them; and maybe she likes it so much because she identifies with them too. I’ve had my heart broken, she’s had her heart broken; and I’m sure we both want to have heart’s that dance.
It’s the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance It’s the dream afraid of wakingthat never takes the chanceWhen the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long and you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
