Waste Not, Want Not: The Right Care for Every Patient

Posted Jan 24 2009 4:29pm
TheSpring 2009 Implementation Conferenceof the National Quality Forum will focus onOveruse in Healthcare. "More does not necessarily mean better when it comes to healthcare. A growing body of evidence demonstrates the pervasiveness of interventions that are excessive, inappropriate, and unscientific. The consequences of overuse include exposure to unnecessary harm, waste of resources that could be put to better use, and perpetuation of care that is uncoordinated. The conference will bring together experts, innovators, and stakeholders to discuss the evidence of waste, a vision of a healthcare system without waste, and the best practices, insights, and tools to help the U.S. achieve goals toward a more efficient healthcare system."
Sessions include:
  • Overuse of Non-Palliative Services at the End of Life
  • Reducing Consumption: Communicating with Consumers, Patients, and Families
  • Building Awareness that 'More is Not Necessarily Better'
