Stephen Drake rightly observes that my appearing on the same side as NDY is a bit unusual. I am often aligned with providers -- drafting futility policies, doing grand rounds, etc. But I see this playing both sides as one of the perks of academia. I know this sounds corny as I am writing it, but my only client is truth. I just want to expose the logical, ethical, and legal weaknesses in the arguments of both sides.
