I know I have no right to complain, and rarely do. I realize there are people in this world and in my own community that have many more challenges in their everyday life than I've experienced in my lifetime. I've lived a very comfortable life. The past six months have been rough. First it was the passing of my sister's husband back in November. Not unexpected, but a tragedy in that families life none the less. I found sadness, mostly for my sister and her sons, that I've never felt before.
Then around the New Year we lost two of three of our household pets. One to old age, one to cancer. This happened in a two week period. More sadness in our lives.
Late January, Susan is hospitalized with aplastic anemia. She's still dealing with the medication side effects and only recently returned to work....part time.
Two weeks ago this coming Monday I felt a slight sore throat coming on. Something that happens three or four times a year. Sometimes it doesn't go much beyond a sore throat, sometimes it puts me down for a few days. I always seem to get it twice as bad as anyone else and takes me twice as long to come back. This cold virus totally slammed me. I had to burn 5 sick days and then return to work with the symptoms still raging. I haven't had a voice since last Saturday. I whisper when I need to communicate.
Thursday, Susan came down with my cold virus. A big blow to her own recovery.
So I hope we're hitting bottom with the challenges and it will be all better from here on out. I haven't bicycled in 11 days. For someone that cycles all year, that's a huge gap. Plus I missed most of February when I was taking care of Susan.
I'm looking forward to being healthy again and getting in some time on bicycles and getting back to my daily bicycle commute.
