Social Cycling Austin makes lite version of Thursday Night ride with Pleasure Ride

Social Cycling Austin’s Thursday Night Social Ride is already the most popular regular ride in town. It’s not unusual to see several hundred riders partake in the weekly bike and brew affair on any given ride. I’ve never found the ride to particularly intense, but apparently Social Cycling Austin wants to make an even more welcoming, more leisurely ride for those who want to skip Thursday nights.
Tomorrow, Social Cycling Austin will be hosting a new ride called the Pleasure Ride. It will be shorter in distance and in all likelihood smaller in size than TNSR. Currently, the plan is to make this ride a monthly affair unless there is demand for it to expand. Is this the precursor to an TNSR-like ride every night of the week? We should be so lucky.
Pleasure Ride Wednesday, January 26 6:30 PM, Festivel Beach Parking Lot (corner of Chicon and Jesse E. Segovia)
The Pleasure Ride is a nice leisurely ride through town. This ride is perfect for newer riders and experienced riders who just want to cruise around. The concept is simple; we meet up, we mingle, we ride, and then we stop somewhere for a late dinner/snack. Since there are plenty of other rides where you can put down 15+ miles during the week this ride will be short and sweet. We’ll put down between 3-7 miles depending on how the group feels. This is a no-drop ride. Please bring with you a bike in working order, LIGHTS!!!, water, spare tubes, and a helmet is always a good idea. Meet at 6:30PM and leave soon after. Seriously. The ride will be gone before 7. This ride will end at Frank’s.
