Today I received my copy of Ghost Trails in the mail from
Jill. Most people that read this blog also read Jill's very popular blog. I came across Jill's blog soon after I started blogging, three years ago this month. I was captured by her incredible photography of Alaska, her writing, and her very personal pursuit of endurance bicycling. It was her
write-up of her first ride in the 2006 Susitna 100 that inspired me to set the goal af completing the
Arrowhead 135, the local version of the Susitna.
Jill has put together some of her own stories into a book format and self-published it. Couldn't be better timing sinve I have loads of time on my hands. I'm no speed reader, so it will take me some time to get through it.
Still healing up. Not much has changed in the last week. I still sleep 8-10 hours a night and then another 4-5 hours during the day. I am still experiencing a lot of pain while this bone heals. Still taking a lot of doses of pain meds everyday. I have to wonder if it will ever turn the corner. But, I know this type of injury takes lots of time to heal. It's going to be a long winter. My thanks has to go out to Susan who has taken care of me all during this. There are many, many things I used to do that I can't do right now with only one hand. It makes her busy, stressful life that much harder. Don't know what I'd do without her.
