This was going to be my Friday Film Fun this week, but it’s too awesome not to share with you and make your Monday better. For anyone who fears change to our car culture will never come, watch this great film on a group of kids who started a bike bus in Orlando, FL .
Bike buses are group rides with designated “stops” where cyclists are pick up along the way. It provides the safety of a group along a bike route without everyone having to meet someplace (which often involves driving to a bike ride!) Instead, bike bus participants join in as the ride meets them.
This film reminds us that the little changes made by the least powerful in society can have enormous impact. These kids have not waited for the politians to get a clue or the road engineers to get their heads out of the auto industry’s rear. They have used the simpliticy of a bike ride to discover their friends, their neighborhood, and that they don’t have to have an expensive hunk of steel and glass to go places.
