Copenhagen goes green with bike powered city Christmas tree

In advance of the Climate Control Conference earlier this month, the City of Copenhagen lit their city Christmas tree with a pedal power from local cyclists.
Meant to highlight how to continue traditions in an environmentally sustainable way, the tree lighting system unfortunately only worked while people were actively pedaling. Seems like they could have had some sort of capacitor to keep the lights on with the excess energy like pretty much every modern bike dynamo light. It turns out that now that the crowds of the COP15 conference are gone, they’ve returned to the old fashion power sources.
Oh well, at least they don’t live in Budapest where drivers disgruntled by cycling being given some public resources are calling for cyclist to be hanged.
Yes, in America drivers park in bike lanes because they are inconsiderate asses. In Hungary, they do it as a protest.
